Stefan Matzelle is the New IT Manager at Austrian Airlines

Effective October 1, 2016, Stefan Matzelle (47) assumed the position of Head of IT Management. He succeeds Andreas Zerlauth, who was appointed to serve as Head of IT of the #Eurowings Group in Cologne.

“Stefan Matzelle not only brings strategic but also profound operational experience to his future work on behalf of Austrian Airlines. I am pleased that he will be responsible for further developing the IT department of the airline”, says Austrian Airlines CCO Andreas Otto.

Born in #Germany but with Austrian roots, Matzelle began his aviation career in the Saarlouis parachute battalion of the German Federal Armed Forces, serving as Chief of Staff, Department Information and Communication. Within the context of his work there, he concluded his studies in political sciences and economics at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces, Munich. In the year 2000, he was named Product Manager IT Network Infrastructure at Tenovis, formerly Bosch Telecom. Stefan Matzelle has been working for the Lufthansa Group since 2002, serving in various management positions up until 2014. Under his leadership, the new area of Professional Services and Consulting was built up within the context of the repositioning of Lufthansa Systems in 2011. In July 2014 Stefan Matzelle moved to Lufthansa headquarters in Frankfurt, where he most recently managed the IT landscape of the entire Lufthansa Group in his role as Director IT Architecture & Innovation Management. Under his responsibility, significant progress was made in the digitalization of the Lufthansa Group.
