Winter Flight Schedule 2015/16: Austrian Airlines Expands Its Network

· Three new long-haul destinations starting October 2015: Miami, Mauritius and Colombo

· One weekly flight to Marrakech as of November 2015

· On balance nine new destinations in the Austrian Airlines route network in 2015

Austrian Airlines is expanding its route network in the entire year 2015. The airline added nine new destinations to its flight offering this year i.e. Odessa, Menorca, Manchester, Miami, Colombo, Mauritius, Marrakech, Shanghai and Bari. Flight service will begin for the first time to three long-haul destinations in October 2015: Miami, Mauritius and Colombo. The airline will also operate flights once a week from Vienna to Marrakech starting in November 2015. Austrian Airlines passengers have also been able to book tickets to Shanghai since the beginning of September. The flights will be offered throughout the year starting in the next summer flight schedule as of April 4, 2016. Accordingly, Austrian Airlines will offer a second destination in China in addition to Peking.

Eastern European specialist

Austrian Airlines continues to be the market leader in Eastern Europe among all Western European airlines flying from one hub. Austria’s national carrier is offering a total of 37 destinations in the region in the upcoming winter. Two of these destinations are in Russia, namely Moscow and Krasnodar. Compared to the winter flight schedule for 2014/15, Rostov and St. Petersburg are no longer included in the current flight offering in the winter season due to the weak level of demand. Austrian Airlines offers four destinations in the Ukraine: Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Lemberg and Odessa. Flight service to Kharkov had to be already terminated in the 2014/15 winter flight schedule, also as a consequence of the slack demand. The airline operates flights to Bucharest, Iasi and Sibiu in Romania. Moreover, Austrian Airlines also offers flight service to Cluj in cooperation with its code share partner Tarom. Thus the Austrian Airlines offering to Romania encompasses a total of four destinations.

Austrian Airlines links East and West

On balance, Austrian Airlines will operate flights to 81 European destinations in the upcoming winter flight schedule, along with twelve long-haul destinations in North America and Asia, four in the Middle East and five in Africa. The home airport hub of Vienna is an ideal flight interface linking East and West thanks to its favorable geographical location.

Lufthansa Group

The airlines in the Lufthansa Group, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS, will make their offering for private travelers even more attractive in the coming winter. This is due to the fact that the offering of the airlines is being mainly expanded by tourist destinations or routes targeting leisure travelers. Passengers can rely on the top-notch service, quality and reliability of the Lufthansa Group.

The airlines in the Lufthansa Group offer their customers one of the densest route networks in the world in the upcoming winter flight schedule 2015 which takes effect on October 25, 2015. The offering encompasses more than 20,380 weekly flights. The Lufthansa Group airlines connect passengers to 261 destinations in 101 countries (2014/15: 260 destinations in 100 countries) via its flight hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zürich, Vienna and Brussels as well as many point-to-point routes. In addition, the flight offering is complemented by more than 18,000 code share flights each week with 30 partner airlines, thus offering passengers a virtually worldwide network. The winter flight schedule of the individual airlines in the Lufthansa Group is valid from Sunday, October 25, 2015 to Saturday March 27, 2016.
